Whether you’re planning to move in the not-so-distant future—or you’ve simply drowning in “stuff” and need to get rid of it—there’s no task more daunting, or rewarding, than a good household purge.
If you’ve been thinking about alleviating some household clutter but aren’t quite ready for Marie Kondo, you may want to mosey on over to the site Apartment Therapy. For the next 16 days, the site is doing a decluttering special called “September Sweep”. Every day, you’ll be assigned a decluttering task, which will arrive in your inbox each morning.
Today, for instance—Day 1—the task was to put together three boxes (or bags, or baskets) and label them “trash”, “donate” and “maybe”. That’s it! I’m hoping that, by taking things one day at a time, the decluttering process will become a little less overwhelming. So far, we’re off to a good start!
What area of your house are you most terrified of decluttering? The garage? The furnace room? The basement? All of the above? Send me a note and let me know! I’d love to hear.
